Some people believe that solving a problem requires a single solution. When you next celebrate a success, take a moment to analyze the steps you took from the moment you identified the issue. In complex situations, you probably took multiple steps and found several solutions. Along the way, you might have compared one solution to another for the best outcome. You may have even made decisions that didn't lead to success.
The point is to expect that we are searching for multiple solutions when solving problems. Another misconception is thinking that the plan we draft is the exact path to a solution. The truth is that it is your people – individuals and teams – that bring those plans to life, and while we all strive to do our best in meeting the plan on the page, we are human and there will be inconsistencies, distractions, and challenges within the team as we pursue success.
Science-based assessments can provide many answers along the way.

To better deal with our humanness the science of workplace assessments has led to deeper self-awareness and how we best might work with others. While there are differing opinions on the value of these assessments, in my roles as coach and leader growth expert, I am a believer. Mainly because I counsel that the results found in assessments, unlike tattoos are changeable. Leading assessments like Wiley Everything DiSC, Gallup Strengths Finder and Foursight all suggest that while your profile will be more than 95% accurate, you are able to venture into the other behavior zones as needed with awareness, energy and focus.

The purpose I assign to an assessment is to help a client and teams first deepen their self-awareness, shining light on behavioral biases and blind spots. Then, armed with this self awareness, see how their preferred methods work in a team or leadership setting. Most assessments today have virtual environments where teams can explore their results in greater detail and role play how their style might mesh with fellow team members or others they would interact with. This reminds us that believing in a single solution to a problem is a myth. Assessments can lead us to accept multiple different answers, significantly enhancing our chances of achieving success more consistently.
I am trained and certified to administer all the assessments shared here.
